So we all decided to get another brother for our home and Mom went to California to get Yogi. Yogi is another Jack Russell Terrier who came from Oregon and he's related to my other brother Winston.
Wasn't fun that Mom left us for a few days, never is fun when she's gone and doesn't take us. Lindsay stayed with us and scratched our bellies, walked us and most importantly FED us while Mom was gone. Lindsay is cool, she is living here for a while and helps people to recover from bad injuries, we all like her.
Well, Mom got back really late, Winston and I were sound to sleep thinking she'd be gone another night, but in the house she comes and boy were were surprised and then really just happy to have her back!
She took us for a walk and took Yogi out of my truck and he growled at us and boy it was late at night and me and Winston are thinking, not a good way to 'fit' in. So Mom put him back in my truck and we went for a nice walk and got scratches and love and she brought Yogi in the house after we got back.
He's a pretty cute puppy. It'll be fun to train him to my way of thinkin' and watch him grow. He and Winston will be able to play alot which is cool, I can supervise!
Mom's takin' pictures and guess she'll post some up here somewhere along the line...she's not very good at this internet thing with creating stuff, but we are all going to work on it.

As Gustav Nears the U.S.
It's still a tad difficult to wrap my head around another 'Katrina'. We now have a mothership diary up and going on DailyKos and slowly links and important information is popping up on it.
I will also add links and information here as I either research it, or am supplied it by those of you in the trenches searching.
This isn't an exciting blog, but it'll be moving right along with this hurricane and perhaps we can help some lives....
I wish for all in the path of this storm that they will be safe and secure when it hits and that America will embrace you this time and assist you to recover and live in dignity.
Namaste
Barbara, Tirawa and Winston

GUSTAV RESOURCES & Thoughts
It has been three years since Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast and crippled the region and left ALL Americans with a HEART virutally paralized as they watched the horror unfold.
We remember vividly the bodies, the dead woman in the wheelchair, the stories of rape in the Super Dome. We remember the inability of our government (WHO IS ELECTED BY WE THE CITIZENS) to do anything.
I remember challenging any of the politicians on the HILL to meet me in Louisiana without their contigency of handlers and press and HELP and not ONE ever did contact me.
So as I watch in horror as Gustav gets closer to the United States, that sinking sensation has begun.
While I hoped that this blog would be about Tirawa and Winston and their antics, they've agreed we must use it as a resource and sounding board for Gustav.
Below is a list of RESOURCES that we need to get available for everyone...add to it by sending a comment or emailing me.
Most importantly thank you for helping. If you are in the path of the hurricane, LEAVE.

Animal Rescue
Small Animal
Large Animal
Housing
Potential longer term
Short term
HOUSING FOR VOLUNTEERS that go to the area.
If you live within two hours of the area that is hit and can offer a shower and someplace to crash to a volunteer, please let's hear it. During Katrina, I would have been estatic to go someplace that had hot water and real food!!!
Medical Assistance
Dental Assistance
Senior Citizen Assistance
Disabled Assistance
Water Suppliers
Ice Suppliers
Food Suppliers
NOTE: I know alot of you will say RED CROSS and the other federal agencies, but they just aren't THERE folks....so I want/ need to know about individuals and small groups out there...

Just to straighten out the FOOD thing....
So Ginny the beagle was over visiting on Sunday....Mom and our Gramma (Ginny's new human mom) left us...not for long, but heck, they did leave.
Ginny went sniffing around, damned beagle, just is always looking for food and she sniffs out MY dry food and I got a tad alarmed and told her to leave it alone...well then damned beagle said she was starving (she surely doesn't LOOK like she's starving) and so she talks me into takin' the container down and I managed to open it up and spread a bunch along the ground, so we had our food buffet.
It WAS that beagle...of course Winston who can be a pesty terrier, but I love him, didn't help either...anyway we ate way too much.
Mom gets home and she's pretty peeved, but I could tell she was going to start laughing (she's pretty mellow)...now she did look foolish trying to pick up the food we didn't eat and we all decided we'd best eat more and of course that helps her too...right?!
The bad thing is we didn't get fed that night...darn it. The good thing is we sure ate too much!
So again, it was Ginny the beagles' fault...

It's me...WINSTON....
It's great being a terrierist sometimes and I caused Mom some more grey hairs, but I swear...Tirawa made me do it. We were driving back home from our hike and we saw that darn cat that lives down the street and I told T that I had to chase it...and so when Mom opened our door to let us out of the truck, I SWEAR...Tman gave me a push and I was off like a ....well, like a terrier and after that CAT....
...ooops, Mom's hollerin' at me, T's dragging her down the road to catch up with me and I have to get that cat...it's always TAUNTING ME...gotta get it....oh no, he's going under the fence...ah, I'm a go to ground terrier and can get into SMALL places, here I go....
Well, Mom and Tman are hot on my tail and Mom sounded peeved...I realized that cat was up on the fence and decided I best get back to Mom...so went over to the place I got under the fence and she got me out...I gave her a kiss right away to let her know not to be pissed....
I WILL get that blasted cat.

TIRAWA and the Pawnees...
Through the years, many people have asked me what Tirawa's name means. The name was shared with me by some malamute breeders in Australia, when I knew I was getting a new puppy (almost 11 years ago now)...the story they sent was wrong regarding the name, but it too was beautiful.
Tirawa was actually Pawnee
Tirawa was actually Pawnee
Once among the strongest tribes of the Plains Indians, the Pawnee were found from the shores of the Platte River in Nebraska
south to the Arkansas River. Today they live mostly in Oklahoma.
'The white man' said the Kurahus, 'speaks of a heavenly Father; we say Tirawa atius, the
Father above, but we do not think of Tirawa as a person. We think of Tirawa as
in everything, as the Power which has arranged and thrown down from above
everything that man needs. What the Power above, Tirawa atius, is like, no one
knows; no one has been there.'When Kawas explains to the Kurahus the meaning of
the signs in the East, 'she tells him that Tirawa atius there moves upon
Darkness, the Night, and causes her to bring forth the Dawn. It is the breath of
the new-born Dawn, the child of Night and Tirawa atius, which is felt by all the
powers and all things above and below and which gives them new life for a new
day.'
